*"FUDGY" AT BURBANK INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL - September 2010: Harland Williams' film "Fudgy Wudgy Fudge Face" will be screened as part of the Burbank_International_Film_Festival September 19th at noon! I had the fun of creating several shots for this film, including a crashing ufo, stock film footage of the crash site, opening logo & title sequence and some hallucinatory images involving donuts and maybe a cow or two. Below is the raw video (without audio) of what I created for the film.

*"CAP" - August 2010: While that is not the full title, that is what I'm going to list it as for now. Just finished a 3 minute animated presentation with Harland Williams which is going to be used to help sell a proposed series idea to television networks such as Comedy Central, MTV, FX, etc. Below is a small shot of the main characters.

*VFX REEL UPDATE- August 2010: Been some time since I updated my visual effects demo, so here is the updated VFX reel with elements from current to years past.

*MEET THE PLUSH- August 2010: A series of promos for My Pittsburgh TV featuring news anchor David Gregbeary. Created to promote on-air programming in a different approach. Software used includes After Effects, Crazy Talk and Sound Forge.

*SPACE: 2099 BLURAY- August 2010: Actually this was done a few months ago, but forgot to add it until now. An animated open and close for a Bluray Space: 2099 "Moon Rise Edition" teaser promo.

*THE AUSTRALIAN - June 2010: Here are some of the animations/composites I created for a new web series being created by Harland Williams for his web site HarlandWilliams.com. The web series is not live yet but should be soon! Created using Photoshop and After Effects.

*RETCON STUDIOS - May 2010: Created a logo animation for Retcon Studios, a new company with an aim toward remastering classic series, in the same way CBS has done with the original Star Trek. One of the first projects for Retcon is the classic series Space: 1999 (retitled Space: 2099) and the logo animation I created appears at the end of a fantastic interview with Keith Wilson, the production designer on Space: 1999. Highly recommend watching. Just click the following link. <Keith Wilson Interview>

*WHERE'S THE STUFF? - May 2010: Been a while since an update of things. Actually been quite busy working on some projects, but I don't want to post them as they're in progress and cannot come out just yet. Have a couple things happening with Harland Williams, and another exciting project with someone that may lead to some interesting remastering work. Time will tell. Hope to post images and animations from these soon.

*STAR TREK PROMOS: March 2010: A promo created for Star Trek The Next Generation re-running on our station weeknights. Created wth Cinema 4D, After Effects and Avid. Shown here in different lengths.

*ROBOT SIZZLE - February 2010: The robot returns in another FOX 53 promotion featuring a montage of the station's programming. Included here is a :30, followed by :15 versions focusing on certain genres of shows.

.

*POSTAPOC-ROBOT - January 2010: Taking that post apocalyptic look from the freelance project, and adding in my like of robots, I came up with this little promo for our late night comedies. Pittsburgh destruction created in Photoshop, the robot created in Cinema 4d and compositing in After Effects.

*POST APOCALYPTIC BURGH - December 2009: Working on a project for someone (can't say who or what just yet) that involves a post apocalyptic environment, so started working with some exterior shots and "post-apocalypting" them in Photoshop. Below is a before and after work in progress of Pittsburgh.

*TALK PROMO - November 2009: A promo for our "talk block" from 2 to 5 with Steve Wilkos, Bonnie Hunt and Wendy Williams. Kind of went for an old 1970's ABC Network style to the promo... Bright colors, disco-ey music, a bit of neon glow and a touch of Three's Company.

*ANIMATED WEB SERIES - November 2009: Started an experiment to see if I can produce a short animated story for the web in a relatively short period of time. This was done in my free time from work, freelance and family, and if a project of this type was done for an official online production I can see doing a few of these in a year. As this was done for a test I used a subject that I enjoyed from back in my childhood... the original Battlestar Galactica series. The final product runs about 17 minutes in length and is split into two parts as youtube has a 10 minute maximum. Hope you enjoy. CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT!

*PROMO SERIES: MEET THE GUYS - October/November 2009: A promo series designed for the FOX 53 evening comedy line-up. Designed so it could easily be adapted for different characters from the various shows. Also set up so it can be utilized by other stations by simply switching out station logo and end panel information.

*CUSTOM PROMOS - October/November 2009: Promos with custom reads from the hosts of The Jerry Springer Show, Maury, 5th Grader and Deal or No Deal for the Pittsburgh Market. Created using Adobe After Effects and Avid Express.

* SOMETHING OLD - September 12, 2009: Was at the store and saw a DVD set that contained a movie from back around 2000 that I created some CGI, Miniatures and props for... and had a brief walkon to boot! For me the coolest thing was turning the case over and seeing my name in print on the DVD sleeve. The set contains 4 low/no budget films and they are not... well... they're not the best out there. Was still a lot of fun. Below is a shot of the DVD set, a full scale hoverbike prop we built and a poster for "The Weapon". And!!! this "Galaxy of Terror" has nothing to do with the 1980's Roger Corman film (which was pretty cool) of the same name.

*ANNIVERSARY - August 11, 2009: Found out today that I have been with the television stations for twelve years now! Time flies far too quickly as it doesn't seem like I've been there that long. I've been able to do a good number of things at the stations over the years and I still am learning. (I don't think you ever stop learning... at least I hope not.)

*CONCEPTS - August 9, 2009: Decided to make some changes/additions to the "Concept / Design" page. This now holds a mixture of different things I've done over the years from school up to somewhat present day. There are sketches, 3d model images, some physical miniatures and forced perspective photos (using the miniatures)... and probably some other various items.

*SITE UPDATES - August 5, 2009: Doing some updates to the site so please excuse any mess along the way. Wanted to fill out a little more of what I do outside of work with my personal interests and projects (the "Space Art" tab being one of them) and get around to updating my demo video with some newer stuff and better resolution. There have been some interesting things going on, thus the addition of this "What's New" page.

*HARLAND - July-August 2009: Some additional work with Harland Williams. Creating a poster and DVD artwork for his film project. Also working on some short animated sequences that may get worked into his new web site. Below is a rough of the initial animation. Still a few things to tweak and some audio hits that need repaired. But it gives you the idea.

*PMZ SUMMER SPECIAL - May-June 2009: Produced a half hour television special called "PMZ Summer Special" for My Pittsburgh TV. Highlighting what is happening in Pittsburgh this summer and hosted by the morning radio hosts from B-94fm. This had both its great points and headaches. Headaches being things such as trying to schedule shooting of stories at different locations, especially when they seem excited and interested, but never actually get a time for us to come and shoot. So we had to find ways around that. However the good far outweighed the head aches... like getting us into the new Casino for a tour from the CEO months before opening... taping inside Kennywood Park... a segment focusing on the local restaurant chain Mad Mex... getting to make some fake infomercial/PSAs to open and close the segments... just to name a few.

Here are links to the PMZ Summer Special show segments 2 through 4: SEGMENT 2 - SEGMENT 3 - SEGMENT 4

*HARLAND - April-May 2009: Doing some animation and effects work for a project by comedian Harland Williams. Its a film he's producing himself and he needed a shot of a fireball flying over and crashing into the desert. Well this was right up my alley and not only ended up working on the fireball, but also creating some interesting scenes with donuts, corn, penguins and other things that involve some hallucination segments. Also designed and created a logo and animation for the "Harlywood Studios" logo and the opening title sequence for the film. Below are some of the elements created for this project (no audio).

*ITC LOGO - February 2009: Created an HD version for the old ITC logo that used to open before shows like Space: 1999 and The Muppet Show. This is for a presentation to Granada demonstrating how a property of theirs like Space: 1999 can be remasted and updated, in a similar way CBS has done with the original Star Trek. Below is a sample showing the original version (from an old recording) and the revised/remastered version (as remastered as it can look with the flash video compression).

*LOGAN EXPERIMENT: With things like CBS remastering the original Star Trek it had me wondering about some other productions from years back. As a quick personal experiment I wanted to see how the movie Logan's Run would look with a cgi city replacing the original miniatures, which unfortunately were a weak point of the film. I put together the shots into a trailer, and I think it took a week or two in my free time to get the shots together. If I were to really try something more with this one thing that would be needed are having "people" walking around in the city exterior shots. There are also a few other enhancements here and there. Below's the trailer, hope you enjoy.

*CLASSIC TELLY AWARD: For their 30th anniversary the Telly Awards held a special category for any outstanding work done over the past 30 years. I submitted a Seinfeld Pinball promotion I created about 5 or so years ago which was awarded a Classic Telly. The promo was modeled and rendered in 3D Studio MAX, with additional effects in After Effects and audio edited on a Media 100. Below is the spot with two additional spots created in the 3d Game Theme I was going for.
