FEBRUARY PROMOS - January/February 2012:Here
are a few on-air promos created for My Pittsburgh TV. Two are
for the evening lineups, one focusing on Seinfeld, and the other
a combo spot for The Simpsons and Seinfeld. The third is for
our station's web site promoting the new sports page. Editing
in Premiere, graphics in After Effects and Photoshop, and 3d
created with Blender
HOLIDAY
IDS - December 2011: A
couple quick station IDs for the holiday season.All modeling
and animation in Blender 3d 2.60. Some additional effects and
audio in After Effects.
FALL 2011 PROMOS - November 2011: A
couple new promos for the fall season. One is to let viewers
know of the new time and channel for Seinfeld, joining The Simpsons
and Family Guy on My Pittsburgh TV. The other is for the new
FOX 53 line-up of Two & A Half Men and The Big Bang Theory.
The FOX 53 promos include a regular :30 sample, and a :20 client
sponsorable sample.
FOX TALKS - November 2011: Interview
segments with various stars of Fox Network shows. Used for on-air
segments, and in long form for web and social media sites.
TOON WARS - April 2011: A
promo for My Pittsburgh TV's Simpsons and Family Guy lineup
based on the original Star Wars movie trailer. 3d animation
created with Blender 3d, compositing in After Effects and edited
in Premiere.
PET
TIPS - March 2011: A
few samples of a client tie-in promotion offering helpful tips
to pet owners. Video shot on P2, edited on Avid, and graphics
created using Photoshop and After Effects.
LATE NIGHT GRAPHICS - March 2011: Been
a while since an update. Working on a few things that I don't
want to post until finished. However I'd like to share some
graphics I'm creating for a late night on-air promo. Created
in Blender 3d 2.5, with the only light sources being indirect
ambient light from the object materials themselves. There are
no separate lights in the 3d scene. Graphics shown here without
sound.
BLAST
FROM THE PAST - Way back in 2005!: An
early animated promo featuring some upset sheep. Thought I had
lost this one, but recently found it... a Thanksgiving Miracle!
Audio was created for a radio spot which I used as the foundation
for a television promotion. Created and edited with Photoshop
and After Effects.
CLEVELAND
PITTSBURGH CUSTOMS - November 2010: Custom
Pittsburgh promos for The Cleveland Show. Script written locally
and sent to FOX Network for recording by show talent. Once audio
received I used an existing promo video and re-animated the
mouth movements to match the custom audio. Editing and animation
created with Photoshop and After Effects.

53 COMEDY CLAW MACHINE - November 2010:
On-air promotion for comedy
lineup on FOX 53. Elements built in Photoshop, and all animation
created in After Effects. Additional audio and video editing
with Avid.
SIMPSONS HALLOWEEN PROMO- October 2010: A
new promo for The Simpsons on My Pittsburgh TV. Shot on P2,
graphics with Photoshop & After Effects, additional editing
on AVID. This is actually an idea my son Evan came up with while
we were on vacation!
TELLY
AWARD PROMOS - September 2010: Uploaded
a video showing the three promos I created that won Telly Awards
in 2008 and 2009. I've included the video here and it is also
located in "The Library"
VFX
REEL UPDATE- August 2010: Been
some time since I updated my visual effects demo, so here is
the updated VFX reel with elements from current to years past.
MEET
THE PLUSH- August 2010: A
series of promos for My Pittsburgh TV featuring news anchor
David Gregbeary. Created to promote on-air programming in a
different approach. Software used includes After Effects, Crazy
Talk and Sound Forge.
SCRUBS
& FRASIER PROMO - July 2010: Two
variations on a Scrubs & Frasier promo for My Pittsburgh
TV.
STAR
TREK PROMOS: March 2010: A promo
created for Star Trek The Next Generation re-running on our
station weeknights. Created wth Cinema 4D, After Effects and
Avid. Shown here in different lengths.
ROBOT
SIZZLE - February 2010: The
robot returns in another FOX 53 promotion featuring a montage
of the station's programming. Included here is a :30, followed
by :15 versions focusing on certain genres of shows..
POSTAPOC-ROBOT
- January 2010: Taking that post
apocalyptic look from the freelance project, and adding in my
like of robots, I came up with this little promo for our late
night comedies. Pittsburgh destruction created in Photoshop,
the robot created in Cinema 4d and compositing in After Effects.
POST
APOCALYPTIC BURGH - December 2009: Working
on a project for someone (can't say who or what just yet) that
involves a post apocalyptic environment, so started working
with some exterior shots and "post-apocalypting" them
in Photoshop. Below is a before and after work in progress of
Pittsburgh.
TALK
PROMO - November 2009: A
promo for our "talk block" from 2 to 5 with Steve
Wilkos, Bonnie Hunt and Wendy Williams. Kind of went for an
old 1970's ABC Network style to the promo... Bright colors,
disco-ey music, a bit of neon glow and a touch of Three's Company.

SERIES: MEET THE GUYS - October/November 2009:
A promo series designed
for the FOX 53 evening comedy line-up. Designed so it could
easily be adapted for different characters from the various
shows. Also set up so it can be utilized by other stations by
simply switching out station logo and end panel information.
CUSTOM
PROMOS - October/November 2009: Promos
with custom reads from the hosts of The Jerry Springer Show,
Maury, 5th Grader and Deal or No Deal for the Pittsburgh Market.
Created using Adobe After Effects and Avid Express.
PMZ
SUMMER SPECIAL - May-June 2009: Produced
a half hour television special called "PMZ Summer Special"
for My Pittsburgh TV. Highlighting what is happening in Pittsburgh
this summer and hosted by the morning radio hosts from B-94fm.
This had both its great points and headaches. Headaches being
things such as trying to schedule shooting of stories at different
locations, especially when they seem excited and interested,
but never actually get a time for us to come and shoot. So we
had to find ways around that. However the good far outweighed
the head aches... like getting us into the new Casino for a
tour from the CEO months before opening... taping inside Kennywood
Park... a segment focusing on the local restaurant chain Mad
Mex... getting to make some fake infomercial/PSAs to open and
close the segments... just to name a few.
CLASSIC
TELLY AWARD: For their 30th anniversary
the Telly Awards held a special category for any outstanding
work done over the past 30 years. I submitted a Seinfeld Pinball
promotion I created about 5 or so years ago which was awarded
a Classic Telly. The promo was modeled and rendered in 3D Studio
MAX, with additional effects in After Effects and audio edited
on a Media 100. Below is the spot with two additional spots
created in the 3d Game Theme I was going for.
